A 65-inch TV is about 57 inches across, and many put their feet near the outer edges, so a stand that looks big enough in the store can leave a foot hanging in the air at home. The best TV stand for 65 inch TV setups is wider than you expect, sits at the right height for your couch, and is rated for the TV’s weight with room to spare.
Our verdict
Quick picks: the Walker Edison Reema 70-inch is the best value, 13 inches wider than the screen. For drawers and couch-height viewing, the Sauder Harvey Park credenza. For solid wood, the Simpli Home Redmond; for premium, the West Elm Mid-Century console. Renters should get the Perlegear floor stand, and if your TV’s feet are too wide, the ECHOGEAR universal stand fixes it.

What the listings don’t tell you
“Fits TVs up to 65 inches” usually assumes a center stand
Walker Edison rates its 58-inch Reema for TVs up to 65 inches. A 65-inch screen is 56.7 inches wide, so that leaves under an inch each side. Fine for a center pedestal, risky with edge feet. The 70-inch version gives about 6.5 inches per side. Check the distance between your TV’s feet before trusting any “up to” label.
Stand height decides where the screen lands
Half a 65-inch screen is about 16 inches tall, and TV feet usually lift it about 3 inches. Using the makers’ own heights:
| Stand | Height | Approx. screen center | Works best with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walker Edison Reema 70 | 16 in | about 35 in | Recliners, low sofas |
| Sauder Harvey Park | 20.75 in | about 40 in | Most standard sofas |
| Any stand 30 in or taller | 30 in+ | about 49 in or more | Viewing from a bed |
A typical sofa puts your eyes around 40 inches up, so the Sauder lands right on it, while the Reema suits recliners and low seats. Measure your own seated eye height.
Several picks publish no weight limit
Walker Edison, Simpli Home and West Elm list no TV weight limit on the pages we checked. Sauder (95 lb TV limit), Perlegear (110 lb) and ECHOGEAR (100 lb) do. A 65-inch TV is typically well under those, but without a number, ask the seller and use an anti-tip strap.

Reeded doors each side, an open center cubby for a console, warp-resistant MDF and two cable ports, per Walker Edison. The catch: it’s low, at 16 inches, and has no published weight limit.
2. Sauder Harvey Park credenza: best for storage
Sauder Harvey Park TV Credenza (420834)
Best for Families who need drawers, gamers, and standard-height sofas
- About 71 x 19 x 20.75 inches

Prices change often, so check today’s price on Amazon.
About 71 × 19 × 20.75 inches, for TVs up to 70 inches and 95 pounds, with three drawers on metal runners and three open cubbies, per Walmart’s listing. The 19-inch depth fits deep-set feet. The catch: engineered wood weighs 147 lb assembled and doesn’t like being rebuilt.
3. Simpli Home Redmond (72-inch): best wood
Simpli Home Redmond 72-inch TV Media Stand
Best for Buyers who want real wood that survives moves and years of use
- 72 inches wide, pine and plywood (listed as solid wood)
- Fits TVs up to 80 inches
- 2 drawers, 2 side cabinets with adjustable shelves
- Open center bay for media gear
- Cord management cut-outs
Prices change often, so check today’s price on Amazon.
Retailers list it as solid wood; PopSci, which named it its best solid wood stand in 2023, describes pine with plywood. Two drawers, two side cabinets and an open center. The catch: pricier than MDF, no published weight rating, and some finishes go in and out of stock.
4. West Elm Mid-Century Media Console (80-inch): best premium
West Elm Mid-Century Media Console (80-inch)
Best for Long-term buyers, design-led rooms and future 75-inch upgrades
- 80 inches wide
- FSC-certified, kiln-dried solid wood and veneer
- Adjustable storage compartments
- Built-in cord management
- Anti-tip hardware included
Prices change often, so check today’s price on Amazon.
FSC-certified kiln-dried wood and veneer, cord management and anti-tip hardware included. At 80 inches it also suits a future 75-inch TV; see 65 vs 75-inch. The catch: several times the price of the others, and no listed TV weight limit.
5. Perlegear PGFS06: floor stand with a mount
Perlegear Floor TV Stand with Power Strip (PGFS06)
Best for Renters and rooms where you cannot drill
- Rated for 32 to 70-inch TVs up to 110 lb
- VESA 100 x 100 to 600 x 400 mm
- 12 height positions, tilt and 35-degree swivel each way
- 3 AC outlets and 2 USB ports
- Base about 21.7 x 15.7 in
Prices change often, so check today’s price on Amazon.
Looks wall-mounted without touching the wall, with 12 height positions, swivel for corners and a built-in power strip. The catch: the 21.65-inch base is narrow next to a 57-inch TV, so add a strap if you can. More in our no-drill TV setup.
6. ECHOGEAR universal stand: fix for wide feet
ECHOGEAR Universal Large TV Stand
Best for 65-inch TVs with edge feet on narrow furniture, and soundbar owners
- Fits 49 to 77-inch TVs up to 100 lb
- Two separate VESA-mounted feet, no fixed spacing
- Up to 8.5 inches of height adjustment
- VESA down to 200 x 200
- Rubber pads protect the furniture
Prices change often, so check today’s price on Amazon.
Replaces your TV’s feet with two separate feet bolted to its VESA holes, so they can sit closer together on a narrower top. Up to 8.5 inches of lift also makes room for a soundbar. The catch: you still need stable furniture underneath, and a strap with small children.
How to choose
| TV size | Screen width | Minimum stand | Comfortable stand |
|---|---|---|---|
| 55 in | 47.9 in | 48 in | 55 to 65 in |
| 65 in | 56.7 in | 58 in, feet permitting | 62 to 72 in |
| 75 in | 65.4 in | 66 in | 70 to 80 in |

- Feet: check the spacing on the spec sheet, and look for alternate inner foot positions. Center-stand TVs like the 65-inch in our LG C6 review fit narrower tops.
- Depth: feet that splay forward can overhang a 15 or 16-inch top. The TV should never overhang the front edge.
- Soundbar: the Sonos Beam is about 2.7 inches tall, but some TVs sit so low it still blocks the picture or IR sensor. See best soundbars for small rooms.
- Ventilation: consoles and receivers need open cubbies or vents. Route the cables through the back ports before the TV goes on.

| Material | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| MDF with laminate | Affordable, smooth finishes | Heavy, weak at screw joints, swells if wet |
| Solid wood or wood and veneer | Strong, repairable, survives moves | Expensive |
| Metal and glass | Slim, open for airflow | Shows dust, check weight ratings |
Anchor it, especially with kids
CPSC’s Anchor It campaign counted 459 tip-over deaths of children 17 and under from 2000 to 2018. In 37% a TV fell on its own, and in another 34% a TV and furniture fell together. Strap both the stand and the TV, push the TV as far back as the feet allow, keep heavy gear low and toys and remotes off the top.
How we picked
We gathered the specs and expert reviews for every pick, put them side by side, and worked out the fit numbers the listings leave out. Widths, heights, size ratings and weight limits were checked on Walker Edison’s, Perlegear’s and retailers’ spec pages, with picks informed by PopSci. The screen-height and width tables are our own sums. Every source is listed at the end.
